Breakfast with Baby is looking for friendly volunteers to help serve the families that participate in the BWB program. Breakfast with Baby events are held on the 3rd Saturday morning of each month at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Carol Stream. 

There are a variety of volunteer roles to choose from such as: Friday afternoon event set up, Saturday parking lot attendants, registration helpers, childcare workers, shopping helpers, staging assistants, food servers and clean up helpers. Most volunteers are asked to be present from 7am - 10am. See the sign up sheet for the hours requested for the specific role you volunteer for. There is also the opportunity to donate packaged foods or homemade breakfast casseroles for each event.

Effective May 4, 2020, EYFP has implemented a “client choice” service model in order to better meet taste preferences and reduce food waste while maintaining a safe and healthy environment for our volunteers and all those we serve. Volunteers during client service shifts perform the following tasks:

As clients arrive at the pantry’s drive-up distribution, volunteers take down clients’ food orders on a pre-printed form. Clients can partially roll down their driver’s side window to tell the volunteer their order, but must remain in their cars at all times.

Volunteers use a shopping cart to select and package clients’ requested food items inside the pantry, wheel carts outside to clients’ parked cars, and place all items into clients’ trunks. Volunteers are not permitted to enter any client vehicles.

You must be able to stand/walk for 1.5-3 hours depending on the shift.

Client Service Shifts:

Monday:    6:15-8:00pm

Thursday:  12:45-4:00pm; 6:15-8:00pm

Saturday:  9:15am-12:30pm

EYFP has a continuing flow of canned and packaged food items retrieved from local retailers and delivered from food drives that have to be processed, sorted, and stocked in preparation for client shopping days. This is an active volunteer role that requires standing and lifting. EYFP uses charitable cash donations to purchase food from the Northern Illinois Food Bank twice each month. Deliveries are on the second and fourth Tuesday of the month. Pallet load quantities of food items are sorted and moved into storage or stocked on market shelves on these delivery days.

EYFP reclaims perishable foods that still have 4-5 days of viability from local retailers. Drivers use the EYFP van for pickups. You must be at least 25, have a valid IL drivers license, and be able to lift cases that weigh up to 50 pounds.

We are looking for Veteran Volunteers to work with our Veteran program.  Volunteers will help us to honor our veterans, provide companionship and be a part of our We Honor Veterans program. Amazing opportunities to be a part of something special.  Contact Traditions Health for more information 

Caring and compassionate volunteers are needed to visit patients in the DuPage area.  Visit patients at a facility near you weekly and engage them with music, reading, conversing, laughing, drawing, or taking for a walk.  Patients would love to see you and are suffering from a life-limiting disease.

Visit at least 2 hours per week for at least 4-6 months, or 4-7 hrs. if you are volunteering for the summer only.  We ask for you to come in for an interview to our Winfield office and fill out an application, background check, and get a TB Test at one of our clinics (or provide a copy on file from recent visit).  Training is 3.5 hrs. with topics that will give you the information you need to be successful.  We support you throughout the process and during your volunteering as well with help concerning questions and education quarterly.

Ask about our Reiki Volunteers, Pet Therapy, Music programs, Veterans, office assisting and events.   Minimum age requirement is 18.  We hope to hear from you soon!   

Groups leaders can connect with the Volunteer & Events Manager to schedule a volunteer activity that best fits the needs of your group. Projects may include invasive species removal, mustard seed pulling, planting bulbs, mulching and much more!

Volunteers will be supplied with bags for the litter, plastic gloves and directions on how to litter pick in the location.

Become a part of our Hotline Paraprofessional Volunteer Team! Help us grow our hotline, to reach more people in need.

Each paraprofessional can commit to at least one regular 4-hour shift each week. We do require a 240 hour commitment post training, completed in about a year. Paraprofessional volunteers respond to calls for the 988 Crisis and Suicide Lifeline as well as our local Depression Line. Our paraprofessionals compassionately listen and respond to callers who may be having thoughts of suicide, are experiencing a mental health crisis, or are in need of emotional support. Besides support paraprofessionals may also be providing resources to callers to connect them with further services.

Training will be provided to all volunteers. There will be both "classroom" style training along with "on-the-line" training. Volunteers range between the ages of 18-75 years old. You do NOT need to be a mental health professional to be a volunteer; many of our volunteers live in the surrounding communities and are committed to helping those in need.

Wellness House envisions a community where all people affected by cancer thrive.  Offered at no cost, and as a complement to medical treatment, our programs educate, support and empower participants so they will improve their physical and emotional well-being.

We are looking for a few folks who love to plan events and get involved! We have several fundraising and "friend-raising" events throughout the year. We are looking for leadership to gather committees and day-of volunteers, in partnership with our Board of Directors.

We are seeking someone to manage our social media presence — both posting and replying to comments. We have a presence on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. We have a developed strategy for marketing and are looking for someone to implement in a social media context, becoming a part of our volunteer Marketing & Communications Team.

We are looking for District 200 residents interested in furthering the mission of the Foundation. Meetings are monthly. There are numerous opportunities for leadership and setting the direction of the organization.

We are constantly looking for more volunteers to take a little bit of time out of their day to help us get our resident dogs out of their kennels, go on walks, and play/socialize in our indoor play yard! Our  facility typically houses 5 dogs at a time until we can move them into foster homes. Once we find foster homes for our pooches, they move out and more move in! We are there from 8am-11am every morning and 5pm-8pm every night. Volunteers do not have to do the whole shift. We require a commitment of 2 shifts per month. After completing 2 initial shifts at our facility, you will have the opportunity to take a dog out into the community on a field trip. Field trips give us great insight to our dogs outside of the shelter environment, and allow us to use that to find the right forever home for them!

Volunteers can help us during the week to help us load the trailer for adoption sessions and organize our warehouse.

We could not do what we do without the incredible support of our wonderfully, generous volunteers. When you join the Compudopt volunteer team, you are part of a family of volunteers who help us deliver our programs, organize our warehouse, or support our development and program teams with planning and events. Please note all volunteers participating in distribution events must pass a background check and must be 18 years of age or older. 

As part of our mission, the Milton Township Food Pantry intends to reach all of the demographics that are food insecure, including those in need at advanced age and fixed income. As a result we need volunteers who will go with staff to senior facilities to distribute food. We also need volunteers who will come back the next day to fill orders of seniors who need further items for daily living. With this assistance. we can help many of the most vulnerable!!!

It is a huge help when volunteers like YOU can host a donation drive to collect items for our kids.  This is a fun way to give back that you can do by yourself, with your school, church or community group, with family, a group of friends or coworkers. Jackie, our Community Relations Director, loves to brainstorm ways groups can give back in a way that is most meaningful to them and our kids!

Toiletries, summer fun supplies/sporting equipment, pillows/cases, tie blankets, family board games, jewelry, Holiday stockings and stuffers, school supplies, gift cards to chain stores (ie. target, Walmart) so our youth can shop for their most urgent need, etc.

Looking for a volunteer to help sort and organize weekly food deliveries in our pantry on Monday afternoons.  Interested person must be able to lift up to 30 pounds, have great organizational skills and enjoy helping people in need.  Must be able to work as a team member.  Couples or groups are encouraged to volunteer together!

The Fuel Pantry is the food pantry at College of DuPage. We provide food assistance to any COD student, faculty, or staff member with a self-identified need. We're always in need of donations and are grateful for any items we receive.

Medical Advocate Volunteer (Non-compensation Part-time)

Sexual Violence Support Services Program

Want to gain valuable work experience while helping others with crisis recovery and support? Do you enjoy being able to work from home from time to time? Are you a great listener? Apply TODAY!

As a medical advocate volunteer, you will be on-call to provide 24-hour medical advocacy to hospital emergency rooms and police districts. With the survivor’s permission, advocates are expected to stay and provide comfort throughout hospital examinations, evidence collection, and police interviews. Volunteers must demonstrate a non-judgmental, supportive attitude toward all survivors of sexual assault. Volunteers should be able to provide a one-year service commitment and complete the 40+ hour Crisis Intervention Training. Volunteer Advocates will benefit from comprehensive training, experience in crisis counseling, references for future job opportunities and opportunities to interact with veteran advocates and other sister organizations.

This position will require documented proof of full COVID-19 vaccination. Volunteers will be required to provide proof of vaccination prior to start date.

POSITION SUMMARY 

Under the direction of the Director of School Operations and the Mentor Teacher, the Birth to Three Lead Teacher will develop and implement individual educational plans for children, which supports their development socially, intellectually, linguistically, physically, and emotionally in a manner appropriate to their age and stage of development. The Lead Teacher will be held responsible for implementing all programming requirements in adherence to all performance and outcomes standards as prescribed by the multiple funding and model requirements.

Under the supervision of the Mentor Teacher, the Teacher Aide will support the development and execution of  classroom activities with  the classroom team  and help maintain a classroom environment that is developmentally appropriate and meets the individual needs of children and enhancing all areas of development. The Teacher Aide will be responsible for assisting with implementing all programming requirements in adherence to all performance and outcomes standards as prescribed by the multiple funding and model requirements

The First Division Museum at Cantigny Park is seeking friendly, engaging, and enthusiastic individuals to welcome visitors to the museum at our Lobby Kiosk. Volunteers will be expected to answer visitor questions about Cantigny Park and the First Division Museum, and have a basic knowledge of the 1st Division's history. Volunteers will also keep track of museum visitation, call for staff or security assistance as necessary, and ensure the comfort and safety of the general public. This position requires some standing. Volunteers will be trained by the Volunteer Coordinator and through shadowing seasoned volunteers.

The First Division Museum at Cantigny Park is seeking individuals passionate about history to give school tours for students grades 4 through 12. Our tours are designed to provide students with a deeper knowledge of American Military History through the lens of the First Infantry Division. Tours are 45 minutes in length, and give equal time to World War I, World War II, and the Vietnam War. Position requires volunteers to stand/walk for 45 minutes at a time. Position also requires speaking to groups of up to 25 students. Volunteers will learn the 45 minute tour through training provided by the Volunteer Coordinator and through shadowing seasoned docents. Ideal applicants will be friendly, outgoing, have a passion for history and excellent communication skills. 

Maintain the perennial beds and Native plant beds on the golf course; Maintain herb garden; Ability to identify desirable and non-desirable plant species; Available to work from April to November; Ability to work with management and work with and instruct other volunteers

Assist gardeners in the Display Garden, Rose Garden, Idea Garden, the Fountain, Scallop, Dryland, and Rock Gardens and Gold Pond area (working with annuals and perennials). Assist in planting/transplanting, weeding, watering, and grooming plants.

 During the first full week of May - we are celebrate National Nurses Week and we are looking for community members that would like to help us recognize the amazing work our clinical team does by catering a small lunch or dinner for the day and/or night shifts of nurses. Lunch meal would need to feed approximately 10-12 nurses and the evening meal would need to feed 5 people. We also would love to spoil the nurses with small gift cards to local coffee shops or anything else you are able to provide. Almost Home Kids is on 2.5 acres of land and we consistently need volunteers that are interested in lending a hand with yard/garden work.  From garden clean up & weeding to watering plants - we need your help!  We are looking for small groups to volunteer for a few hours to help clean up the gardens.  You can also volunteer on your own 1-2 days a week to help us with watering plants from May-September. Please email the Community Outreach Coordinator from our website. Outside projects occur between the months of May & September.

UPDATE: Due to COVID-19 restrictions... we are screening volunteers that are interested in doing outside garden weeding for us.
