Volunteer: Social Media Graphics Volunteer 2024

Are you passionate about fighting climate change and want to make a difference NOW? Do you want to help our local government and community in a quest to reduce carbon emissions? The Naperville Environment & Sustainability Task Force (NEST) is seeking volunteers to help with simple graphics.  The goal of this position is to communicate with NEST’s audience to educate and inform the Naperville government and community.

 

This volunteer will

Create simple graphics to communicate NEST’s initiatives Typical work products would include graphics for social media, but also posters, flyers, brochures, and support for website and social media Interact with other NEST volunteers to collect information for creating content Attend the monthly NEST Community Engagement Committee virtual meeting
Must provide own computer and software

 

Knowledge and skills

Basic experience creating graphic on Canva or full graphic design apps
Basic familiarity with environmental issues is good, but not required

This is a great volunteer opportunity for students in the fields of environmental science, biology, public policy, public relations, social media marketing, and communications.

 This volunteer will

Create and publish content on Facebook and Twitter to publicize NEST events and viewpoints
Assist in initiative to use Instagram Provide suggestions on improvements to the NEST FB page and its use, and implement them Interact with other NEST volunteers to collect information for creating content Attend the monthly NEST Community Engagement Committee virtual meeting, and occasional  other meetings if needed

 Knowledge and skills

Experience creating and publishing content on Facebook and Instagram
Ability to write persuasively and concisely
Simple graphic design skills on Canva, etc. would be helpful Basic familiarity with environmental issues, including climate change, CO2 emissions, energy efficiency, electric vehicles, etc. is good but not required
