Volunteer: Board of Directors

We are looking for new board members, in particular a treasurer. The treasurer needs to have experience managing funds, keeping records, preparing financial reports, and filing tax returns. We are also looking for board members experienced in fundraising and writing grant applications.

Fermilab Natural Areas is an all volunteer organization doing habitat restoration on the site of Fermilab Physics laboratory. Our board of directors meets monthly over zoom.  We organize public workdays and outreach events. We provide internships for students majoring in environmental science or biology.

Volunteer: Habitat Restoration Workday

Fermilab Natural Areas has volunteer opportunities available throughout the year.  Whether you love native plants, wildlife or everything about nature, we have a place for you to fit in that is suited to your interests and abilities.  It requires no special skill set and tools and instruction are always provided. Please wear long pants and toe enclosed shoes. Our regular workdays are Mondays 1:00pm - 3:00pm and every second Saturday of the month from 9:00am - 11:00 am. We meet throughout the year, except holidays. The workdays may be cancelled due to bad weather.

Please email us (fermilabnaturalareas@gmail.com) if you are interested in volunteering. Prior to attending, please fill our the volunteer form and found on our website. A signed parental waiver, also on our website, is required for those under 18. Those under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.

You need either a REAL ID driver's license or current passport to enter Fermilab.  Tell the security guard that you will be with Fermilab Natural Areas and will be working in public areas.  We meet at the NE corner of the Lederman Science Education Center's parking lot.
