Opportunities From: Giving DuPage

Come and help us sort, pack, label, store and load donated medical supplies and equipment bound for developing countries. We also need help with volunteer recruitment, community events and office / administrative duties. Individuals or groups will find a fun, interactive volunteer experience that literally saves lives. 

Help Project C.U.R.E. deliver life-saving medical supplies to hospitals and clinics in developing countries. You can partner with us to serve individuals and families in desperate need around the world, and you don't even have to leave the city.

As a warehouse volunteer, you will pick boxes and equipment for shipment, load containers with medical supplies, and assist with general warehouse organization. This is a hands-on, active volunteer opportunity. Established volunteers have the opportunity to be trained as a forklift driver.

Requirements:

As a clinical/biomedical engineering volunteer, you will help test medical devices and prepare them for shipment. Tasks may also include performing repairs and researching new devices. Our engineers are critical in ensuring that all of the machines Project C.U.R.E. sends are functional when they reach hospitals and clinics abroad.

Requirements:

As a sorting volunteer, you will identify, sort, and package medical supplies for shipment overseas. This is a hands-on volunteer opportunity that allows the volunteer to become familiar with an assortment of medical supplies.

While a medical background is helpful, it is not required. Training and resources are provided on-site.

Requirements:

As an administration volunteer, you can help with a variety of office tasks such as answering the phones, volunteer management and recruitment, scheduling pick-ups, greeting donors and volunteers, and data entry.

As a driver, you will pick-up supplies and equipment from hospitals and clinics in the area. Drivers have the options of using their own vehicle or using Project C.U.R.E.’s 16 ft box truck.

Requirements:

As a medical volunteer, you will identify, sort and package medical supplies such as consumables, lab supplies, surgical instruments, etc. for shipment overseas. This is a hands-on volunteer opportunity that allows the volunteer to utilize their medical background and mentor others.

As a volunteer leader, you will lead groups of 5-15 volunteers in preparing medical supplies for shipment to clinics and hospital abroad.  Tasks include sorting medical supplies and warehousing.

While a medical background is helpful, it is not required. Training and resources are provided on-site.

Volunteer ambassadors promote Project C.U.R.E. through attending volunteer fairs, meeting with potential in-kind donors/hospital administrators, and speaking to groups about Project C.U.R.E. Ambassadors play an integral role in C.U.R.E. Community development and procuring medical equipment and supplies.

We are looking for friendly, well-spoken volunteers with a passion for sharing our global health mission.

Requirements:

The Project C.U.R.E. Internship Program is a volunteer internship opportunity that provides undergraduate and graduate-level college students the opportunity to gain hands-on process improvement and leadership experience.  Interns develop both professionally and personally as they contribute to the Project C.U.R.E. mission: to identify, solicit, collect, sort and deliver medical supplies and services according to the imperative needs of the world.  Project complexity and content will vary by the experience and education level of each intern.

Internship opportunities include:

The Project C.U.R.E. internship program typically lasts a semester with a possibility to extend.  Fall and spring interns are asked to work 6-10 hours/week to complete the internship while summer interns are asked to commit 10-15 hours/week. Those receiving class-credit for internships may be required to work additional hours each week. Work schedules are flexible and determined by the intern and the Project C.U.R.E. supervisor.
