EarthPaint.org is a very dynamic organization with changing needs every day.   We always have the need for people to help us with various tasks which could include organizing, stacking, building equipment, and all jobs related to recycling paint.

Our location in wood dale is great for people of all ages to be an important part of the newest way to make an impact on our environment.

Our organization employs people with special needs and currently we move every paint can and bucket by hand.   Some of our staff has difficulty with this task and we hope to find a machine that can take pallets off of our truck and stack them on racks until our staff can get to them.

We are looking for volunteers with an eye for art.  EarthPaint collects thousands of gallons of paint in every possible color that can be used for art.   We also would like to turn the empty paint containers into sculptures.

If you would like to spend some volunteer hours turning wates into something beautiful, come and see us.

We are looking for a few dedicated mentors who are willing to share their own talents and abilities with some of our artists at our Elgin Studio, 164 Division Street #415. Many of our artists are self-taught, while others have Bachelor's Degrees in art, or one even has a Masters Degree from the School of the Art Institute Chicago (SAIC). Help us figure out how to use some of the equipment that was donated to us. Gentle coaching, demonstrating techniques, even just sharing ideas would be helpful. We meet on Saturdays, generally from 11 AM to 2 PM or so. If you are available during those times, you wouldn't have to stay the whole 3 hours, please contact me at 630-606-8732 if you are interested or have additional questions.

Membership is open to skilled singers with previous choral experience or the ability to read music.

Auditions involve a warm-up and a piece of the singer’s choice to determine vocal strength and range.

ECU holds rehearsals on Tuesday evenings on the campus of Elmhurst College, plus one Saturday rehearsal before each Sunday afternoon concert.

When transportation is a cancer patient’s biggest roadblock to treatment, we help provide the rides that can help save lives. The American Cancer Society Road to Recovery program offers cancer patients free transportation to and from their cancer-related treatment. For those who cannot drive themselves or have no other means of getting to treatment, volunteers donate their spare time and the use of their personal vehicle to give cancer patients in their community a much-needed ride.

Right now, one of the biggest barriers to cancer care is transportation. Because, even the best treatment can’t work if a patient can’t get there. Family and friends may help, but over the course of several months, they may not always have the time or financial means to provide every ride.

Volunteer using your own car to help drive patients in your community to and from their lifesaving chemotherapy and radiation treatments throughout DuPage County... This opportunity is for weekdays (during the day). This is a very flexible opportunity that can make all the difference to a cancer patient who is not able to get to treatment.

CAN participants are young men and women with intellectual and developmental disabilities who have limited communication and social skills.  CAN volunteers guide and monitor participants, assist them with vocational tasks, help them participate in community outings, model and encourage socially appropriate behavior, and just hang out and get to know them.  Our program leader will let you know what is needed, and will supervise all activities.

This volunteer position consists of working directly with the Warehouse Manager moving, cleaning and preparing furniture items that will be going directly to the families we serve. This includes general cleaning and organizing to help maintain a clean and safe environment for all volunteers, clients and staff.

Each year Sharing Connections provides furniture and household items to over 7,000 individuals in transition - but we don’t do it alone. Join our efforts by starting your own group or business Dresser Building Challenge and help us provide over 600 dressers this year to families in transition. You will have a tour of our warehouse, explore what sharing means and take the challenge to build a dresser, as a team, for our clients in need.  Through your team building exercise, together we will furnish hope.

Great for groups, scouts, and corporate teams of 4 or more!

Volunteers are needed to lead horses and ponies in therapeutic horseback riding sessions and act as sidewalkers next to riders. Volunteers also help groom, tack and care for the FTEA horses. New volunteers are required to attend an initial orientation/training session. Volunteers should be able to walk 45 minutes comfortably.

Volunteers are needed to assist in the FTEA office. Filing, helping with mailings and other related tasks will be presented.

Volunteers are needed to perform light cleaning duties in the office areas. Vacuuming, dusting, sweeping and mopping a small tile floor are part of the duties. Volunteers may choose their schedule, Monday thru Friday 10:00 to 3:00. An hour and a half would probably be needed.

Being a mentor requires a commitment of 6 months and passing a background check. The benefits of being a mentor are up to the individual. We believe that mentoring allows for one’s experience to benefit others and that a mentor makes a difference in the world.

In our Community-Based program, volunteers are matched one-to-one with a child between the ages of 7-14. The volunteer will pick up the little from their home, and take them out into the community to do fun activities that will help the child to improve in three outcome areas: Educational Achievement, Social-Emotional Competency and the Avoidance of Risky Behavior. You can decide on your outings together based on your interests and personalities. Each match is professionally supported by a Big Brothers Big Sisters staff person.

Here a couple of the requirements to be a Community Based Mentor:

- Be at least 21 years old

- Commit to a minimum of a 1 year relationship

- Meet at least twice a month with your Little

- Be willing to be matched with a Little in DuPage County who lives within 20-30 minutes of your home.

If you know how to knit, crochet, sew, or just use scissors - why not start on a critter blanket today? They're fast to make, and lots of fun! Once you have a few done, you can send them to a participating shelter in your state, or to CFC headquarters in Glen Ellyn, IL for distribution to a shelter.

* Knit or Crochet a Blanket - Knit or crochet a blanket using any pattern and any color of washable yarn. Feel free to mix and match colors, and even make up your own pattern! The finished blanket should be approximately 20 inches square. If it's not perfect (who is?) that's fine with us, and the critters!  If you'd like some ideal patterns for blankets, just check out our "Volunteer Resources" page of our website.

While most of the blankets we make and send are this size, we do love and support larger dogs and other "critters". So do feel free to make them doggie-sized if you like, or larger to accommodate larger pets. We gladly take ANY size blanket and will find the perfect animal to cuddle it!

* Make a Fleece Blanket - Use two pieces of fleece (so that it's nice and thick) - at least one piece should have a pattern, if possible. You can sew them together or cut and tie them. If they do have ties, please try to make the center (untied) portion of the blanket about 20-inches square.

If you don't have the time or expertise to make blankets for homeless pets, but you do have some extra yarn (leftover from a project) or a full skein you've never gotten around to using, we can put it to good use!  Any amount, any color 4-ply yarn will be gratefully accepted.

We also gladly accept any leftover fleece material. We use larger pieces of fleece to make blankets, and smaller strips to make pull-toys for shelter dogs. We have a 24/7 drop-off bin in Glen Ellyn, IL to receive donations.

The goal of the Children’s Project is to provide children with nutritional support at critical times of the year, a beautiful birthday box to celebrate their birthday, and school supplies for those children of school age.

The Project C.U.R.E. Internship Program is a volunteer internship opportunity that provides undergraduate and graduate-level college students the opportunity to gain hands-on process improvement and leadership experience.  Interns develop both professionally and personally as they contribute to the Project C.U.R.E. mission: to identify, solicit, collect, sort and deliver medical supplies and services according to the imperative needs of the world.  Project complexity and content will vary by the experience and education level of each intern.

Internship opportunities include:

The Project C.U.R.E. internship program typically lasts a semester with a possibility to extend.  Fall and spring interns are asked to work 6-10 hours/week to complete the internship while summer interns are asked to commit 10-15 hours/week. Those receiving class-credit for internships may be required to work additional hours each week. Work schedules are flexible and determined by the intern and the Project C.U.R.E. supervisor.

Each client has a service plan that denotes what type of job they are seeking, location & hours to work.  In addition, this volunteer could assist with locating potential employers that may be a good fit for our clients to create a partnership with.  These partners may have many job openings in various buildings / locations and may be willing to hire individuals with disabilities for positions with limited hours. Desired assistance would be 1-2 days/wk for 2-3 hours, preferably Tuesdays, Wednesdays or Thursdays. 

Repeat Boutique always needs volunteers of all ages to help sort, size, and organize the donations of clothing and housewares.

The volunteer may sign up for 1 day a week for a 4 hour shift or less.

Our clients are always in need of sheets, blankets and towels.

YMCA staff and volunteers make daily phone calls to those who are homebound or living alone. This program is designed to bring a little friendly conversation into each person’s day and to confirm that each person is well and needs no assistance.   If help is needed, the YMCA can initiate the proper action.  If you, or someone you know would benefit from this program, please call us.

Periodically, there are opportunities for service projects at our Camp Prairie Oaks in Bolingbrook.  These include Spring clean up, clearing brush, opening the Camp cabin for the season, winterizing and closing the Camp cabin at the end of the season, etc. 

This is a seven acre site with outdoor trails, teambuilding elements, and a cabin.

We also have opportunities for you to volunteer , be a Board Member, Youth driven groups,  People with great ideas and renters.

Get in the ground floor of this exciting opportunity to do great things for an all-inclusive youth service organization.  The board of directors meets monthly on the second Tuesday at 7PM.  We ask that each board director sit on at least one committee: Governance/Nominating, Marketing, Development/Events, Finance, Property or Strategic Planning.   We're  a working board that is focused on the future and growth of Camp Fire Illinois Prairie and all the amazing programs we offer.

We have four openings currently available to bring our board to our maximum allowable. 

Need for Diapers, (sizes 1,2,3) wipes, Baby Laundrey Detergent, Baby Bath, Diaper Rash Cream  etc.

Anything that you would use and it would be used up immediately.

Do you have musical talent of any kind? Our seniors love hearing you sing, play and instrument, or even listen with you to your favorite recordings.

The New Neighbor Conversations program connects refugees with native English speakers to improve refugees' conversational abilities and to build relationships in the process.

At the ReStore Fox Valley, you never know what kind of day it's going to be but it won't be dull! As we take in donations, you'll most frequently find that they all have a common denominator; they all need a little TLC. We are in need of volunteers that aren't afraid to grab a cloth and help spruce up our merchandise. Know how to assemble cabinets? Make minor furniture repairs? We could benefit from having you volunteer, too! Have experience with electrical wiring and confident you won't get zapped? Come on over!

Our mission is to raise funds for Habitat for Humanity by selling donated building materials and furniture to the general public. The profits from these sold items go directly to support the Fox Valley Habitat for Humanity in its mission to build affordable and safe housing for those who lack adequate shelter.

The ReStore prides itself on creating a great work environment for volunteers. Volunteers aged 16 and 17 need parent permission via a signature on a waiver form. Sorry, but we don't allow persons less than 16 years of age to volunteer with us. Waivers are available on our website, www.foxvalleyrestore.org, or at the store.
We would like you to dress appropriately for our retail environment. We recommend wearing clothing you don't mind getting dirty i.e old jeans, t-shirt, and closed-toe shoes are a must!

We Grow Dreams Greenhouse & Garden Center can use help in the greenhouses, grounds landscaping and maintenance, and general repairs.  If you don't want to get dirty - there are opportunities to work with crafts, fundraising, grant-writing, and virtual at-home opportunities.

Mentors-DuPage County

What is a mentor? A mentor is an adult friend and role model who offers guidance and support to a youth.

Who can be a mentor? Caring, committed adults 21 and over who are able to meet regularly with a youth for at least a year. Mentors should feel comfortable working with at-risk youth. They must also have access to an insured automobile and pass a background check, a physical and a TB test.

Who needs mentoring? Our mentors support youth and young adults in ChildServ’s group home programs in DuPage County.

What do mentors do? Our mentors work with youth on educational achievement and setting career goals, building trusting relationships and providing encouragement, to expand their horizons.
