Goal

Assist with cleaning of sites during specific times of the year.

Role & Traits Enjoys outdoor cleanup which may include: weeding, trimming of trees, grounds clean up, and other specific seasonal needs Enjoys indoor cleanup which may include: room cleaning, dusting, baseboards, deep cleaning of kitchen and other areas as determine by the site Individuals, families and small groups are welcome to participate. Schedule August–October: In preparation for the fall programs April–June: In preparation for the summer programs Getting Started

All facilities clean up groups should communicate interest to the  Director of Volunteer Services. Coordination between the group and the site will be handled by the Director of Volunteer Services.

Location

Goal

To provide one-on-one weekly tutoring for each elementary student twice a week, ensuring each student succeeds in school.

Role & Traits At least a junior in high school or older Caring, nurturing, compassionate spirit Sensitivity to the needs of children who are struggling with basic academic principles Sensitivity to the needs of students from a different racial or cultural backgrounds and carrying the burden of poverty Able to set and maintain healthy boundaries for self and the student Schedule

Tutor a student in elementary school (1st-5th grades) a minimum of once per week (a student may be assigned two tutors).

Monday through Thursday at 4:15-5:30 p.m. from September through May Start and end dates will be determined at the beginning of each school year Tutoring sessions are not scheduled during school holidays Getting Started

All volunteers are required to complete the Outreach Application and Screening procedures. This includes:

Completion of the Volunteer Application, including three references An interview with the Director of Volunteer Services Complete the fingerprinting and background check

Goal

The Friendly Visiting Program serves neighborhood seniors who may be isolated and lonely.

Role & Traits Have a love for older adults Be an additional support to older adults Will maintain confidentiality about their match Able to set and maintain appropriate boundaries Schedule

Friendly Visitors are matched with a senior citizen in the neighborhood who you will visit at least twice a month. All Friendly Visitors are asked to commit to the program for a minimum of one year.

Getting Started

All Friendly Visitors are required to complete the Outreach Application and Screening procedures before being matched with a senior. This includes:

Completion of the Volunteer Application, including three references An interview with the Director of Volunteer Services Complete the fingerprinting and background check process Completing the Approved Driver Application and maintaining automobile insurance

Program description:

The Outreach Employment Center is a Job Training Program designed to equip and empower young adults (18-24 years of age) to pursue employment and career goals through paid work opportunities, coaching, supportive case management and career exploration.

Volunteer Roles and Responsibilities:

Transport participants in the Employment Opportunity Center from work sites to home during the week and to and from work on Saturdays. Currently the primary work sites for all participants are in Carol Stream and Warrenville. Effective coordination with EOC staff to identify transportation needs Development of supportive relationships with program participants and recognizing the need and opportunity to be a role model to participants.

 

Who’s Best Suited for Drivers?

Ability to meet all driving requirements including age 21 or over, good driving record, valid IL driver’s license, current auto insurance. A desire to support young adults in their efforts to grow job and academic skills as they progress through the employment program. Highly dependable and punctual

Goal

To provide safe and adequate child care for children of the residents of Jubilee Village Transitional Housing Program.

Role & Traits

This is a great opportunity for families to serve together, so all age groups are welcome with the accompanying of a parent/guardian. This is also a great opportunity for students who are 13 years or older.

Child Care at Jubilee Village takes place every Wednesday  from 6:30-8:15 p.m. Volunteers have the flexibility of volunteering weekly, bi-weekly or monthly.
