Help visitors with some old-fashioned fun on the farm! There will be tours at our mid-1800s limestone house and historic red barn; they can meet friendly animals in the petting zoo, and try farmstead chores like collecting eggs, washing clothes by hand, playing in the corn, and pretending to run a farmstand. Participants can even make butter from cream. Visitors can explore tractors and antique farm equipment up close while learning how they work. The farm will be beautifully decorated for fall, providing plenty of photo opportunities. A barnyard-themed bounce house, make-and-take crafts, and live bluegrass music from Rochambeau are fun options for all ages. Food options include Smokin' Z BBQ, Kona Ice, and Tapville Social.

Volunteer near where you live or work!

Gentiva Hospice is looking for people who would like to go into nursing homes, skilled nursing facilities, and/or memory care centers (near you) to sit with our patients and be a friend. You can sit and talk, play games, watch TV/movies, color, play cards, read aloud, do word searches or crossword puzzles, play music, look at photos, go outside, walk around the facility, or any other kind of meaningful activity you think your patient might enjoy.

After training your first visit will be with the volunteer coordinator who will introduce you to your patient and who you how to document your visit. Gentiva will provide PPE but you won't be seeing patient who require it. You will NEVER EVER see patients who are positive for COVID-19 or any other infectious disease.

As a volunteer you are an important part of the team! We will train you and provide ongoing training so you can learn new skills. We want this to be an experience that is beneficial to both you and the patient so that everyone's needs are met.

We accept volunteers who are fulfilling hours for a misdemeanor such as a traffic violation, DUI, minor drug or other non-violent offense that does not involve another person. We do not accept hours for harassment, theft, gun related charges or violent crimes. Please email me a photo of your court order that shows your case number and the offense that you need to complete community service for. Once we confirm it meets our criteria, we will send you a link to create an account in our system.

The Naperville Park District accepts volunteers looking to fulfill required volunteer service; pending approval from the Volunteer & Events Manager.

Typically, required volunteer service hours are obtained by litter picking, weeding or helping our parks maintenance staff outdoors. These opportunities are typically completed Mon- Fri between 7am – 12pm, sometimes on weekends, weather permitting. The volunteer shift would be no more than 4 hours per day.

Gentiva Hospice is looking for people from all walks of life to hang out with one patient three hours per month (most often one hour per visit on three different days) as a patient visiting friend.

Work with patient three times per month, any days and times you choose, and spend one hour together each time you visit in person. We are flexible and can work with your schedule and availability and distance you are willing to travel. Full training is provided.

We have patients all over the Chicagoland area and you can choose how far you want to drive to see your hospice patient.  Must be able to pass drug screen, background check, physical and fingerprinting. We also need proof of a TB test within the last year. We provide them free of charge at our office in Oak Brook.

We provide food shopping and food pick up at our Naperville, Aurora and Plainfield locations.  Our volunteer shift lasts 2-3 hours,  Shifts are scheduled six days a week. Join our volunteers at Loaves and Fishes Community Services as you enjoy working outside!  You will need to create a profile to attend an orientation. No computer experience needed, just a friendly smile and a desire to help people with their bags of groceries.  This position is directing traffic safely in and out of our parking lot or loading the groceries into the vehicle.  The parking team has a great time with each other, and with our client families. 

Not ALL court mandated charges are accepted.  Follow instructions when you create your profile.  No Felony charges accepted. 

Veterans have given a lot to our country and we thank you for your service!  Veterans also seem to relate to each other in ways the average person cannot. At the end of life there is a lot that can be stirred up, memories dislodged, or old feelings re-awakened. At Gentiva Hospice we know that end-of-life is experienced differently by our veterans which is why we pair them with veteran hospice patients. By end-of-life we mean that these veterans have a terminal illness and are probably in their last year of life (but not always).

As a veteran volunteer you will be matched with one veteran patient who will be your patient until he/she passes.

Pinning Ceremonies

We will also do a veteran pinning ceremony for your veteran patient. He/She will be given a certificate and pinned. Meaningful words are spoken and the veteran patient and veteran volunteer both get a chance to share any stories about being in the service or what being a veteran has meant to them. We take some time to celebrate and honor the veterans and acknowledge their service and sacrifice for this country.

Gentiva Hospice is looking for a few good people who can be a friendly face to our patients at Harbor Chase Assisted Living Facility (ALF) in Naperville. We are looking for someone who can spend three hours a month volunteering. 

Share your gift or talent on your visits and have a conversation, play games, put together puzzles, look at family photos, play music, listen to music, take walks, play cards, work on crossword puzzles/word searches, or something else you think will bring a smile to your patient's face.

Full training provided. Volunteer on days and times convenient to you. Send back a simple visit note after your visit (stamped envelopes provided). No experience necessary.

The West Suburban Community Pantry rescues food from a myriad of retail donors all week long. We are looking for volunteers to sort through our high value donations and shelve it on the floor.

Please visit our website to fill out an application & sign up for a 1 hour, in-person, orientation. After you attend orientation you can sign up to volunteer as often or as little as you would like. We are open for volunteering Monday-Friday 8-4, Saturday 8-2 and we are here until 8pm on Thursday.

We are always in need of volunteers to help with upkeep around our shelter. This role can entail anything from restocking food and litter, to mopping and vacuuming. Scheduling is always very flexible and you can earn court-mandated community service hours this way. 

Every morning, 365 days a year, we need volunteers to help clean our dog kennels. This takes place from 8:15am-10ish every day. This is a great way to get a lot of court-mandated community service hours quickly!

The task entails hosing down dog kennels and resetting everything to get them ready for the day.

Each year Sharing Connections provides furniture and household items to over 7,000 individuals in transition - but we don’t do it alone. Join our efforts by starting your own group or business Dresser Building Challenge and help us provide over 600 dressers this year to families in transition. The ReStore prides itself on creating a great work environment for volunteers. Volunteers aged 16 and 17 need parent permission via a signature on a waiver form.
