Volunteer: Fleece Donation for Baby Blankets

Have any unused fleece that you no longer need?

We are accepting donation of fleece to be used to create homemade baby blankets for sick or premature babies in the hospital. They will be donated to the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) or PICU/Emergency room where needed. Social workers and nursing staff assist in the delivery to families needing this gift of comfort.

The fleece will be cut down into 1 yard increments, so please avoid any 1/2 yard pieces. For each yard of fabric, we are able to create one baby blanket. We prefer to use both a pattern and a coordinating solid fleece to create the blankets. In this case, 1 yard of a pattern with 1 yard of a coordinating solid would create 2 dual-sided baby blankets. However, we are open to taking any donated fleece and matching it to a pattern or solid that we have in stock. We love neutral solids (greys, whites, navy, black), but can use all colors. For the patterned fleece, please select options that would work well for a baby's blanket.

We run the charity operations/blanket parties on evenings and weekends out of our home, so you can drop any fleece to our home address at: 945 Douglas Ave in Naperville, IL 60540. Please feel free to leave it on the front porch in a plastic bag to keep it safe from the weather.

Going shopping for the fabric is a fun activity. We hope that you enjoy picking out the fabric and remember to check for store coupons if available. Please know how special this fabric will be when turned into a cozy and comforting blanket for babies (and their families) in the hospital.

Questions? Email lauren@camdenscomfort.org or call 309-868-9022

**If you would like to receive a receipt to be used for charitable giving on your taxes, please complete the attached in-kind donation form to estimate the total value of your donated fleece. Thank you.

Volunteer: Fostering Cats in Need

**Urgent foster homes needed**

We are constantly asked to help with cats who can no longer stay in their homes, or were found trying to survive on their own. We can help more cats with more foster homes - please reach out ASAP if you could give a cat in need a place to chill for a little while. We are most often asked to help with adults and seniors - while kittens are often popular for fosters, the adults & seniors need you the most!

We are in need of foster homes to help prepare the cats in our rescue for adoption. We will set you up with the supplies and everything you need to care for the cats, cover all any needed vet appointments or costs...all you need is a quiet, separate space and some love to share!

Chicagoland Animal Rescue, NFP is a small, all-volunteer cat rescue organization based out of the Downers Grove PetSmart at Butterfield & Finley Rd.

Ideally, you should have some experience with cats, including medication, nail trims, and socializing, but we are willing to consider people who have not had a cat before as well. Foster parents must be 21 years or older only, and all members of the household must be on board with fostering and understand the expectations for doing so. Please fill out the fostering application here. Once you contact us, please keep an eye out for a follow up email from fundraising@chicagolandanimalrescue.org (and check your spam folder, too!) within about 24 hours. If you would like more information before filling out the application, please reach out to fundraising@chicagolandanimalrescue.org with your questions. We'll be happy to answer any and all questions you may have!!

Our only physical location for visiting us or our cats is at the Downers Grove PetSmart, 1550 Butterfield Rd, Downers Grove IL. However, our foster homes should be within a 30-minute distance of the Lombard/Carol Stream area (as this is where our veterinarians are located).

If you are unable to volunteer or foster, follow us on social media and share our adoptable cats. Please also consider making a donation to help support cats in need! Thank you for your time!

Volunteer: CHAT Volunteer Board Member

CHAT, an established nonprofit organization with an amazing board, is looking to expand! For almost 45 years, CHAT has been giving children in need the gift of communication. Focused on inclusion and centered in social justice, CHAT provides life-changing speech therapy to individuals with few—if any—other options. Through our clinic, in schools, and in partnership with community nonprofits, we tailor services specifically to clients' needs and build on their strengths. Each CHAT client leaves able to communicate, in their preferred method, to their families, teachers, future employers, and the world around them.

The position of board member is to support the work of CHAT and provide mission-based leadership, guidance, and strategic governance. We seek individuals who demonstrate commitment to the values and mission of CHAT, and personally connect to our work. We are looking for a corporate executive and/or community leader who has the ability and willingness to reach out to personal and professional networks and their corporate community on behalf of CHAT.

Over the past several years, CHAT has materially increased work with families on Medicaid or needing scholarships for services, who struggle to find support elsewhere. We have also grown our community partnership work, removing barriers to access by bringing life changing literacy, executive functioning, and life skills programs into communities that need them. We need more board help to sustain this critical work!

CHAT holds four hybrid quarterly board meetings that each board member should attend and participate in with the purpose of helping CHAT reach its annual fundraising goals and grow its impact. Board members also typically serve on one of CHAT's committees, that meet one to three times per quarter.

If this is something that you might be interested in please reach out directly to our President & CEO, Karine Fiore. karine@chatwithus.org

Volunteer: Crafting & Creating for Cats

Join us for an on-your-own-time, fun virtual opportunity! Perfect for students who need service hours, too.
If you are a crafty person, you can support our rescue by creating toys for the cats in our rescue (and to send home with them when they are adopted!), crafts for our fundraising sales, enrichment items for the cats in our care, and more. We recently created a short workbook of suggested projects and ideas - check it out here!
In addition, any funds earned from sales of donated items at craft fairs ore vents will be used to care for our existing cats and pay our vet bill, and this allows us to continue rescuing felines in need. If you have any experience with fundraising, or would like to help us generate ideas, please contact us - we'll be glad to have your input! Please visit our website, or ask any of our volunteers or adoption counselors if you have questions.
Donations of various kinds are always accepted, including: food for foster cats, toys (no hazardous/swallow-possible parts please), crates, carriers (hard sided and/or top loaders preferred), etc.

Volunteer: Youth Tutor (Volunteer)

Changing schools is difficult enough; now imagine your new school is in a completely different country, culture, and language. This is the reality for refugee and immigrant youth when they first start school in America. As a Youth Tutor, you can help ease this transition by coming alongside them and their parent(s) as they begin the process of adjusting to school and pursuing academic success.

You’ll have the opportunity to help with homework, build a friendship, practice English, provide social-emotional support, and—in some settings—enjoy fun activities together like soccer, art, etc. Tutors are normally paired with a student of the same gender in one of our after-school clubs or outside of our clubs at a mutually determined time, meeting in-person or virtually in some locations.

A typical commitment is about 1 - 2 hours once a week over a school semester. Training is provided.
