Who We Are
Windy City Warmth is a vibrant 501c3 nonprofit organization with the mission of equipping future generations through education and community engagement to respond to the complex injustices surrounding homelessness. Windy City Warmth empowers people to live out expressed solidarity through empathy, education, and engagement, with specific training to address housing insecurity. Our vision is to see a Chicagoland community that understands and invests in the well-being of its homeless and marginalized communities.
What We Do
Windy City Warmth hosts volunteer days with educational programming for our partner schools, puts on conferences to educate people on homelessness, and has recently launched Hearth, a 6-month long program empowering high school students to fight housing insecurity in their communities. Members of the Hearth cohort are guided and funded in their projects to fight homelessness, and then connected with partner organizations where they can dive even deeper. During our volunteer days, WCW staff lead students through Chicago to get meals with and build relationship with people experiencing homelessness. Then, if the person they are talking with needs winter weather gear or other essential resources, our volunteer teams are able to provide that as well.
