St. Sophia's Forgotten Felines

Who We Are

St. Sophia's Forgotten Felines operates a variety of programs designed to save lives and support both cats and the people who care for them. Adoption Program: We place approximately 1,000 cats and kittens into loving homes each year through our shelter, foster network, pet store partners, and community adoption events. Foster Care Program: Our foster homes provide individualized care for kittens, seniors, shy cats, and medical cases in a home environment while they prepare for adoption. Southern Purr Project: We partner with underserved rural animal control facilities in Southern Illinois to transfer at-risk cats and provide them with opportunities for rescue and adoption. HopeRX Fund: We help families keep their beloved pets by providing assistance with emergency veterinary care, prescription medications, and specialty diets. Crisis Boarding Program: We offer temporary housing and care for cats whose owners are experiencing emergencies such as hospitalization, housing instability, or other personal crises. Finder-to-Foster Program: We support community members who have found stray or abandoned cats by providing rescue resources, veterinary care, and foster support. Community Outreach and Education: Through volunteer opportunities, educational programming, and partnerships with local businesses and veterinary organizations, we work to improve feline welfare throughout our community. Everything we do is driven by one goal: ensuring that every cat in our care receives compassion, quality care, and the opportunity to find a safe, loving, and permanent home.

What We Do

St. Sophia's Forgotten Felines (STSFF) is a volunteer-run, 501(c)(3) nonprofit cat rescue organization based in Wheaton, Illinois. Founded in 2010, our mission is simple: to provide the best in temporary care for cats in transition. Since our inception, we have saved more than 12,000 cats and kittens by providing safe shelter, medical care, and loving foster homes while they await adoption. With approximately 150 active volunteers and dozens of foster homes, STSFF is entirely powered by community support and receives no government funding. We are committed to giving every cat, regardless of age, medical needs, or background, a second chance at life and a loving forever home.
