Who We Are
The Glen Ellyn Food Pantry is a non-profit ecumenical endeavor of Glen Ellyn churches who work in collaboration to provide food and volunteers to serve persons in our community who are in emergency or in need of sustenance. We will work closely with our network of food pantries, agencies and community to maximize our effectiveness in serving the food insecure in our service area.
What We Do
The Glen Ellyn Food Pantry operates with an overarching view that through growing community awareness of our Pantry’s program and resources, we can reduce and eliminate hunger, and close the meal gap in our community.
How?
We will create and maintain a distribution process that will fully utilize donated and purchased food made available to our Food Pantry. Food distribution will be increased by maximizing use of available resources through the Northern Illinois Food Bank, Direct Connect food recovery programs, and by means of individual and community donations.
We will promote, educate and act as advocate on issues related to hunger in our service areas. Additionally, we will educate the public about the nature of, and solutions to, the problems of hunger in our communities and become a primary advocate for hunger and poverty issues in our region.
We will continue to work closely with our network of food pantries and agencies in order to maximize the effectiveness of our client services.
The Glen Ellyn Food Pantry will continue to maintain primary focus of identifying means with which to provide healthy, protein rich foods to Food Pantry clients.
