Who We Are

Aavegh is dedicated to providing a forum through which audience members can experience the fusion of Indian and modern dance. Our innovative shows touch each of your senses, a patchwork of dance, artwork, poetry, song – and heart. Aavegh hopes to expose current issues affecting our society today and to help foster local organizations by donating the proceeds from our performances to charities. We are not only driven by our artistic passions, but by the understanding that change is a possibility.


Aavegh is committed to making a difference in society through their passion for dance. Since 2005, we have donated more than $15,000 in show proceeds to local and worldwide nonprofits.

 

Here is a list of our key productions:

 

Astha "deep faith", is a distinctive dance program that portrays several element of art, culture, tradition, and human emotions. Through this show, we emphasized the powerful strength of a woman and the universal concept of deep faith needed to pull through the struggles, challenges, and happiness throughout life. Proceeds from our productions benefitted two domestc voilence shelters; Apna Ghar in Chicago, IL and Neville House of Bloomington, IL.

Anuraag " Love and affection" in Sanskrit is a unique collection of dance pieces which display several emotions experienced in rmantic relationships. This distinctive dance program was ebraced the diversity of techniques and styles of dance fromthe eastern and western world to provide audience members our unique interpretation on many expected and unexpected feelings experienced in such relationships. Proceeds form our productions benefitted Womenheart; The National Coalition for Women with Heart Disease.

Tyaag "described transformative by audience members showcases a series of unique and moving dance pieces taking audience members through the emotions involved with Tyaag or "Letting Go". The production explored a range of human experiences including saying goodbye to a loved one, letting go of a son as he goes to war, and sending your son to his first day of school. Proceeds from our proudctions benefitted Ranbows for all Childern and America Nepal Medical Foundation.

What We Do

Our Story

Passion, the true meaning of Aavegh, is infused in every aspect of Aavegh Dance Troupe. We are dancers, artists and poets whose passion drives us to make a difference. 
 

Aavegh was started in February 2005 by Supna Chaudhari Jain, an accomplished Bharata Natyam, modern, and Indian folk dancer struggling to find an artistic outlet. Driven by her desire to dance and to make a difference, Aavegh was formed. Aavegh is not only unique in its fusion of East Indian and western dance forms, but in our mission: 


Vision: To create a meaningful impact across communities by functioning as a respected artistic and humanitarian organization.

Mission: To create dialogue on imporantant societal issues through artistric expression while giving back to our community.
