Who We Are
DuPage Habitat is a locally run affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International®, a nonprofit, ecumenical Christian housing organization. We work in partnership with individuals, corporate partners, and faith-based organizations to build up our communities.
DuPage Habitat was founded in 1995 by Dick and Florence Nogaj as a registered 501(c)3 nonprofit organization. Governed by a local volunteer board of directors, DuPage Habitat lowers homebuilding costs by relying primarily on volunteer time to build and renovate homes, run many of our critical operations, and provide supportive services to our partner families.
We believe that owning a home is a major milestone on the road to a family's financial success, and a key component of the community's economic stability. Since 1995, DuPage Habitat has sold and repaired homes to over 130 limited-income families, helping over 150 children thrive. At DuPage Habitat, we believe in a hand-up rather than a handout. We offer a hand-up by enabling our partner families to achieve the pride of homeownership working side by side with community volunteers to build or repair their homes.
What We Do
Special Events volunteers work closely with the development team to plan and execute fundraising and development events for the organization in a manner consistent with DHFH goals, mission and values.
