Who We Are
Our Mission is to provide children facing adversity with strong and enduring, professionally supported one-to-one relationships that change their lives for the better, forever. Our Vision is that all children achieve success in life. Big Brothers Big Sisters of Metropolitan Chicago is an affiliate of the oldest, most respected mentoring organization in the US. We are a mission driven, performance based organization that is professionally managed and provides high quality 1:1 mentoring services to 1,700 of Metro Chicago’s most at-risk children and their families. Our programs are proven to keep kids in school, out of trouble and on the path to post-graduate success.
We serve the youth in DuPage County, and we are looking for volunteers interested in becoming mentors to children right here in your neighborhood.
What We Do
Big Brothers Big Sisters is recruiting caring and committed volunteers, 21 and over, to become mentors to at-risk youth ages 7-14 in DuPage County. Volunteers drive to the home of the child and take them out into the community to do fun things together that the child may not otherwise get to experience. You can take your Little to a museum, out to eat, to a ball game – the possibilities are endless. Volunteers and children commit to at least 2 outings per month, for at least one year, and youth in our program show substantial improvements in the areas of Educational Achievement, Social-Emotional Competency and the Avoidance of Risky Behaviors.
