Position Overview:
The Volunteer Grant Writer is crucial in helping our young nonprofit, This Girl's Story
magazine, secure the necessary funding to continue amplifying the voices of teens who identify as girls. This role involves researching potential grant opportunities, writing compelling grant proposals, and collaborating with the fundraising team to support the growth and sustainability of our organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Grant Research: Identify and research potential grant opportunities from foundations,
    corporations, and government agencies that align with our mission and goals.
  • Proposal Writing: Write, edit, and submit clear, concise, and compelling grant proposals that effectively communicate our emerging organization's mission and needs.
  • Grant Strategy: Collaborate with the fundraising committee to develop a strategic plan for grant applications, including setting timelines and prioritizing opportunities.
  • Grant Reporting: Assist in preparing reports for awarded grants, ensuring compliance with grant requirements, and communicating outcomes and impacts to funders.
  • Relationship Building: Establish and maintain relationships with grantors and funders and stay informed about their priorities and interests.
  • Documentation: Maintain detailed records of all grant applications, deadlines, and
    communications in an organized manner.

Ideal Candidate:

  • Experienced Writer: Strong writing skills with experience in grant writing, fundraising, or a related field.
  • Research Savvy: Ability to conduct thorough research and identify relevant grant opportunities.
  • Detail-oriented: Exceptional attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Mission-Driven: Passionate about supporting the voices of teens who identify as girls and committed to the mission of our growing nonprofit.
  • Collaborative: Able to work independently and as part of a team, with strong communication and organizational skills.

Time Commitment:
Approximately 5-10 hours per week, depending on grant application deadlines and
organizational needs.
