Who We Are

Council of International Programs Chicago (CIP Chicago), founded in 1956 is a nonprofit organization, that promotes world peace and understanding through international professional and crosscultural exchange. CIP Chicago is an affiliate of CIP USA that has offices in different parts of the U.S. and is authorized 

What We Do

  1. CIP recruits and places well-qualified professional for work and learning at U.S. businesses, nonprofits and government agencies for a period of one month to 18 months.
  2. In partnership with Discovery Journey, we take US residents on cultural and educational trips abroad
  3. We organize 7-10 day professional development for groups from abroad
  4. In partnership with The Center for Discovery Learning, we organize international internship and volunteer opportunities abroad

How can you be a partner in this endeavor?

  • Any institution, interested in receiving the services of highly qualified may contact CIP at 312 545 6882. 
  • Meet the visiting professional over lunch, tea or dinner, show them around and tell them about your neighborhood and its history and culture
  • Host a visiting professional for one week or more in our house
  • Serve on the CIP Board, or volunteer for 2-3 hours a week
  • Thus build lifelong and friendly relationship across cultural and national boundaries, something very much needed today!!  You will be getting the firsthand experience of a foreign culture and lifestyle!  One handshake at a time, one person at a time, you'll be building our planet a better place to live!
