Who We Are
Camp Fire was founded in 1910 "to guide young people on their journey to self-discovery." We began as Camp Fire Girls. We were America's first nonsectarian and multicultural organization for girls at a time when there were no other such groups. In 1975, we became coeducational. We offer programs and experiences for children and teens that focus on social and personal development.
Our service area includes the five counties surrounding Chicago.
What We Do
Our Camp name is now:
Camp Prairie Oaks.
Our programs are research based. Social emotional experiential learning gives our youth participants the life skills they need to be leaders now and in the future.
In addition to our year round programs we operate a summer day camp in Bolingbrook on our 7 wooded acres. Here children learn about nature, develop environmental awareness, perform community service projects, and enjoy the outdoors. Service is woven through all of our programs.
We service youth from ages 5 through 18 and their families. Our team building challenge course is suitable for youth and adults.
Do you need service hours? We can help you. Come one and come all.
Please reach out to us. We are here for you.
