Who We Are

Since 1990, SCARCE has provided environmental educational programs for members in the community. SCARCE educates teachers, students, scouts, eco-clubs, colleges, municipalities, businesses, and community organizations about recycling, composting, and conservation of natural resources. Some of our programs include 3Rs, Recycled Papermaking, Waste Audits, Green Audits, Watershed Model activity, Energy Bike demonstration, teacher workshops, and Earth/Ecology/Water Quality flag certification.

Committed to sustainability, SCARCE also accepts several items for reuse and recycling. Local organizations and community members bring their used books, school supplies, and crayons to our facility where we process the materials and provide them to schools and not-for-profit organizations. SCARCE also accepts a variety of other household items for reuse and recycling.  We depend heavily on volunteers for the success of these projects!

What We Do

SCARCE is an environmental education not-for-profit organization and our mission is to inspire people, through education, to preserve and care for the Earth's natural resources while working to build sustainable communities. We provide innovative, hands-on educational programs and we operate a facility where we reuse and recycle several items to keep them from the landfill.
