Who We Are

Smiles, Joy & Kindness.. the necessities of a APEX Hospice Volunteer!

Are you interested in Volunteering in our office (filing, making copies, etc.) or becoming a companion to one of our wonderful patients?

APEX Hospice and Palliative Care is looking for kind hearts that are interested in making a real difference in the life of terminally ill adults. If you enjoy reading, being a good listener, sharing memories, making people smile or other talents you may have, PLEASE let us know. Many of our patients are diagnosed with Alzheimer's, Cancer, Heart Conditions, etc. Some may have families, while others are alone but either way, the support and presence of a Volunteer make these tough times a bit easier. To comfort, converse and spend time with our patients is unforgettable and an experience of a lifetime!
Volunteers play an essential role in the lives of our patients and families. They are a very important part of the hospice team!
If you are interested in becoming a APEX Volunteer, please contact Stacey at 888-779-3910.

***PLEASE KNOW THAT WE ARE NOT AN ON-SITE HOSPICE, WHICH MEANS THAT WE ARE ONLY AN OFFICE. OUR PATIENTS ARE LOCATED THROUGHOUT THE CHICAGOLAND/SUBURBAN AREAS IN VARIOUS NURSING HOMES/ASSISTED LIVING FACILITIES, PRIVATE HOMES, HOSPITALS, ETC.

*** Please remember, hospice DOES NOT mean that patients are actively dying.

*APPLICATION & BACKGROUND CHECK MUST BE COMPLETED, ALONG WITH AN ORIENTATION***  My apologies but the State of Illinois has certain requirements for Volunteers BUT I will make sure that this will be a pleasant (and good learning) experience for you.

If you can at least visit one of our dear patients (or assist us in the office) 2 times a month, this would be WONDERFUL!  :)

THANK YOU AND HAVE A GREAT DAY!  :)

What We Do

When we think of Hospice, we tend to think of terminal illness, death, etc.  Who are Hospice Patients?  People with a chronic or malignant illness that has been given a limited prognosis (6 months).  Illness may include any of the following:  Dementia, Cardiac Diseases, Pulmonary Diseases, Alzheimer's, Cancer, Renal Disease, etc.  Some signs and symptoms to look for in potential patients are:  Frequent hospitalizations, Frequent infections, Fatigues, Pain, Oxygen Dependence, Nausea/Vomiting, etc.

What MANY do not know about Hospice?  We are are SUPPLEMENT.  Hospice is paid for 100% by Medicare and Medicaid (Private Insurance/HMO's are both payment sources as well).  Hospice Services can be receieved INDEFINITELY.  We offer 13 months of Bereavement Service.

What makes us different at Apex Hospice?  We are a smaller, family oriented Hospice located in Oak Brook.  From RNs, CNAs, a Social Worker, Chaplain and wonderful Volunteers who are all available for our dear patients and their loved ones.  Compassion, kindness, support and experience is what we have to offer our patients.
