Young Naperville Singers

Throughout its history, Young Naperville Singers has developed and refined its mission of excellence in choral singing for young people. Founded in 1984 by the late Helen Grubbs, YNS has grown to 10 choirs for singers in first through twelfth grades. For the last 15 years, Artistic Director Angie Johnson has overseen tremendous growth in the artistic development of YNS, along with a team of professional musician educators. Additionally, many professional musicians and composers have provided training to our singers through master classes, clinics and commissions. While providing extraordinary educational and performance experiences, YNS has also been delivering leadership training for intermediate and advanced singers for many years. 

Our choirs have traveled regionally, nationally and internationally. Our most recent tour in June of 2022 was a trip for members of Bella Voce and Bella Cantare to perform with the National Youth Festival Chorus at Carnegie Hall in New York City, while our Canto Vivo choir traveled to the Wildman Adventure Resort in Wisconsin. In the past we have traveled to Colorado, Oregon, Hawaii, Costa Rica, Canada, Czech Republic, Poland, Hungary, Austria and Ireland. Our most advanced choir has performed to great acclaim at the American Choral Directors Association convention, as well as with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra for their “Merry Merry Chicago” Concert series.

It is the belief of the staff, parents and the YNS Board of Directors that through singing the heart is touched, the mind is stimulated, and the spirit is set free.
