Are you looking for a meaningful way to give back to your community? Gentiva Hospice is seeking compassionate, reliable volunteers to provide companionship and comfort to patients and families in the Chicagoland area (city and suburbs).
Who We Are:
At Gentiva Hospice, we provide exceptional care and support to individuals and families facing life-limiting illnesses. Our volunteers are an integral part of our team, offering emotional connection and a listening ear during a profound time of life.
What You'll Do as a Patient Visiting Volunteer:
- Bring Comfort and Joy: Spend time with patients 2-3 times per month, sharing stories, reading, playing music, playing games, coloring, something else, or simply being present. Full training provided.
- OR
- Be a Source of Support: Offer respite (time for the caregiver to leave) and encouragement to families during their caregiving journey.
- OR
- Make an Impact: Your visits provide companionship and emotional relief, brightening someone’s day and making them feel cared for. Some of our patients have few visitors or friends to talk to. You can really bring them joy, even in small ways.
What We’re Looking For:
- A kind heart, patience, and willingness to support others.
- Reliability to follow through on commitments.
- No medical background required – just your time, compassion, and care.
- Volunteers must be at least 18 years old and pass a background check.

IMMEDIATE need for volunteers at: Lakewood Nursing & Rehab (Plainfield), Elevate Care (Palos Heights), Churchill Place (Glen Ellyn), Aliyah (Crestwood) and Ryze West (Chicago). Other facilities and cities available.
