Tutors will assist individuals with Down syndrome as they
- develop the ability to recognize letters, letter combinations, and accompanying sounds
- develop an interest and enjoyment of books and reading
- develop the ability to recognize while words through matching, selecting and naming
- increase text comprehension using leveled reading texts
- increase the ability to read independently, apply knowledge from reading a variety of materials, and use writing skills to create projects
Tutors must be 18+, time commitment at least 1 hour weekly for 10 week sessions. Dates and times coordinated between tutors and their students. Training provided.
