Description

Join our Docent Corps. Experience the excitement that comes from a continuing education experience of hosting school groups and other tours. Make new friends with people who have similar interests, and become part of a great institution. Most of all, inspire multiple generations by helping visitors make discoveries and gain insight about contemporary art and architecture.

Requirements: Docent experience is helpful but not necessary! All we require is enthusiasm for learning about art and architecture, and an eagerness to share your passion. After completing training, you will be ready to give tours in the galleries and special exhibitions, helping our visitors make exciting discoveries.

We have a particular need for docents willing to lead tours of the McCormick House, a single-family home designed in 1952 by Mies van der Rohe, one of the great architects of the 20th Century. The McCormick House is one of only three residences designed and built by Mies in the United States – and one of only two open to the public.

Docents need to be able to move around the Museum comfortably for 3 hours at a time, have access to email and a computer, and have a love of sharing your enthusiasm with museum visitors.
