The Regional Board oversees the West Suburban Region of United Way of Metro Chicago. This region encompasses DuPage County and extends East into West Cook County suburbs. The Board is responsible for the strategic efforts of the organization. The Board hires and oversees the Chief Professional Officer, recommends and approves allocations to partner agencies, executes fundraising activities and assists in meeting fundraising goals, and ensures the activities of the organization are in-line with the mission and vision of the organization.
Ideal candidates should be willing to lend their time, talent and treasure to United Way. Candidates should work and/or live in the West Suburban Region and be at the C-suite level or have access to C-suite networks. Members are expected to share their business acumen, philanthropic vision and efforts, social service expertise and knowledge of the community to support the mission of the organization. Ideal skillsets include: sales, marketing and networking. The number one expectation is that members contribute to the fundraising of the organization.
Board Members commit to a 3-year term. There is a four-term limit for all members.
The Board meets six times/year (third Wednesday of every other month).
Committees of the Board meet quarterly or as needed. Each board member is required to serve on 1 committee of the board.
