Neighborhood Food Pantries – Volunteer Coordinator

Purpose
This position is intended to advance the volunteer program at NFP through recruitment, onboarding, communication and recognition of volunteers.
Reports to
Executive Director
Skills and Experience
Prior experience working with and developing volunteers. Familiarity with volunteer management software. Ability to manage time and work independently. Ability to communicate effectively across multiple constituent groups. Ability to uphold the values of NFP.
Duties
- Work with site coordinators to understand volunteer manpower needs and develop volunteer capabilities.
- Recruit pantry and administrative volunteers through community partnerships (church, business, schools, community, courts etc.).
- Recruit bi-lingual volunteers to welcome and engage with pantry guests.
- Recruit and organize teams for volunteer events (i.e. Martin Luther King Day of Service).
- Process and maintain Food Recovery driver applications.
- Provide volunteer orientation/onboarding via meeting via Zoom at least once per quarter.
- Seek experience feedback from volunteers.
- Plan and implement a recognition program for volunteers.
- Prepare and disseminate communication for volunteers to share news, information, and NFP volunteer needs.
- Assist with the recruitment and training of event volunteers.
Expectations:
This position will support the NFP mission by deepening the relationship NFP enjoys with its volunteers and deepen our connection to the communities we serve. The volunteer coordinator is a support to other NFP functions such as pantries, administration and development.
