Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service is a National Day of Service that honors the life of Dr. King and is his call to action for people to serve in their communities. Please join us on Monday, January 16th from 9-11am at O’Hara Woods Nature Preserve (Here is a map to the parking lot) to help this naturally significant area in our community thrive.
Your service at O’Hara Woods will help restore this special space that provides a refuge for foraging animals, beautiful birds, and delicate flowers. You may find your own sense of well-being restored by spending time there!
We will provide tools and training to remove invasive honeysuckle shrubs by cutting and clearing the woody brush. We recommend wearing layers of non-synthetic warm clothes that can get dirty, wool socks, sturdy winter boots, and winter hats. Bring warm work gloves and water – if you forget, we’ll have a few supplies on hand.
Please click here to register by January 12th.
We will email registrants a few days prior with updates. We look forward to the opportunity to share this day of service with you!
