CHAT, an established nonprofit organization with an amazing board, is looking to expand! For almost 45 years, CHAT has been giving children in need the gift of communication. Focused on inclusion and centered in social justice, CHAT provides life-changing speech therapy to individuals with few—if any—other options. Through our clinic, in schools, and in partnership with community nonprofits, we tailor services specifically to clients' needs and build on their strengths. Each CHAT client leaves able to communicate, in their preferred method, to their families, teachers, future employers, and the world around them.
The position of board member is to support the work of CHAT and provide mission-based leadership, guidance, and strategic governance. We seek individuals who demonstrate commitment to the values and mission of CHAT, and personally connect to our work. We are looking for a corporate executive and/or community leader who has the ability and willingness to reach out to personal and professional networks and their corporate community on behalf of CHAT.
Over the past several years, CHAT has materially increased work with families on Medicaid or needing scholarships for services, who struggle to find support elsewhere. We have also grown our community partnership work, removing barriers to access by bringing life changing literacy, executive functioning, and life skills programs into communities that need them. We need more board help to sustain this critical work!
CHAT holds four hybrid quarterly board meetings that each board member should attend and participate in with the purpose of helping CHAT reach its annual fundraising goals and grow its impact. Board members also typically serve on one of CHAT's committees, that meet one to three times per quarter.
