Elmhurst and surrounding areas
Gentiva Hospice is looking for new and seasoned volunteers to sit with one patient two-three (2-3) times per month at Chapters Senior Living in Elmhurst.
Visit on your time, on days and at times that work for you. What you do during your visit is up to you: talk, play cards, read out loud, look at pictures, listen to music, play music, play an instrument, sing, watch TV/movies, pray, play games, do crossword puzzles or word searches or a jigsaw puzzle, or whatever else you want to do with your patient that you think he or she would like. Share your talent or passion!

Must be able to
- pass drug test [we no longer test for marijuana]
- pass background check
- be fingerprinted (unless you are already in the healthcare worker database)
- Have had a TB test in last year or we can send you for one at our cost
- pass a physical
- be at least 18+
- have a valid driver's license (only if you plan on driving to Chapters)
- have car insurance (only if you plan on driving to Chapters)
You are given everything you need to succeed. A volunteer coordinator will go with you on your first visit and is always available to answer questions or help you in any way you need. We have both a male and female volunteer coordinator available. We will train you.
